How do Sabian Symbols work within our own chart, how can we understand our path and find clues on how best to travel along it? Many people believe we ‘chose’ certain things before we incarnated here in this life. I believe we ‘chose’ the time we were born to help us with our life path. The South Node is what we bring into this life and the North Node is where we are headed, therefore, these symbols are truly powerful when making life decisions.

South Node + North Node = LIFE PATH

Here we have a brief example of a young man's life path as described by his chosen Sabian Symbols calculated by his birth time and date. This client came to ask for assistance in deciding what future he might head in before he started college.

NORTH NODE - ARIES 21 ~ Sabian Symbol: A pugilist entering the ring.

The North Node indicates our future and where we hope to gain knowledge, experience and skills. It is the goal we inch towards, work towards and stretch to reach. When we ‘see’ this symbol in our life, it has a deeper meaning we need to ponder upon. This north symbol represents a quest towards Aries, relying on self to achieve greatness – remember the legend of the golden fleece, that is Aries. This is a symbol that has the potential to help you reach true greatness in which ever field you choose to enter. The key word for this symbol is exertion. The colour that will help you toward your North Node is red. The gemstones that will help you on your life path are diamonds and jasper. You have a fighting spirit, make sure you fight the good fight. I suspect movies like Rocky (1-5), The Power of One and various martial arts appeal to you.

You will become assertive and self-empowered, you are discovering a sense of your own identity and will initiate your own projects. You will prefer learning about life through raw experience, rather than in the halls of academia.

Keep in mind, in this life it is OK to fight for what you need or want if you fight with dignity and regulation, remembering there are rules to follow. You will spend your life developing skills so you will be able to physically, emotionally and spiritually defend what it is you believe. Sometimes defense will be your best weapon. You will grow to realise a big part of being the boxer is fighting your own internal struggle or conflict. With this symbol the key is to teach yourself without ignoring the truth others have already found out. Don’t be tempted to re-invent the wheel.

SOUTH NODE - LIBRA 21 ~ Sabian Symbol: A crowd upon a beach.

The South Node is our past lives, our childhood, things learned, understood and our best skills. This is your past life strengths and what gifts you brought into this life, past life hints and karmic choices. The key word for this symbol is exhilaration.

This symbol indicates you are a fair and rational person. Libra, the sign of balance, plays a big part in your astrological make-up, meaning you listen to different opinions then make up your own mind what you believe. Your South Node also indicates your expectations of others and of life. You expect people to be fair, balanced, well informed and you find they are not. You also expect the crowd to be on your side and at times they will not be.

This is simply a ‘fun’ life you have chosen this life, you have no major Karmic issues to deal with apart from your own mental growth and self development. The only lesson here is to let go of past life tendencies to be narrow minded and learn to broaden your perspectives. As a child you may have had a tendency to be indecisive, considering the needs of others first. As you mature and grow, you will choose to develop your mind through study and work. This symbol indicates you love gatherings and sharing in mutual values, sports and other intellectual pursuits. You are a sporting man and should have already made a mark on the sporting world at this time. I expect you have many trophies from sports played in front of crowds. When we looked in detail at his North and South Nodes it was clear sports would play a major part in his life and study would also be important. Examining his natal chart holistically, we could see the symbols lit up that sports was not only a passion but a gift that was going to bring him fortune. He decided to continue with his sports and now has a scholarship playing his chosen sport with ‘potentially’ an excellent career ahead of him.
