aromatherapy: Aromatherapy is a practice of using the sense of smell as a catharsis to healing with the studied understanding that certain aromas evoke certain reactions in people.
chakra: An energy center within the body which connects to related energy centers in the aura and beyond. There are major chakras and minor chakras. Traditional teaching focused upon seven major chakras, each circular, spinning in clockwise or counterclockwise directions, and vibrating to a specific color. Chakra one, also called the root or base chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It vibrates with the color red. It energizes issues of security and grounding, including monetary flow and basic physical survival. Chakra two, also called the sacral or spleen chakra, is located about 4 inches above the first. It vibrates with the color orange. It energizes issues of desire and creativity, including reproduction. Chakra three, also called the solar plexus, is located near the naval. A woman’s third chakra may sit lower than a man’s. It vibrates with the color yellow. It energizes issues of the human mind and personal power, including intelligence. Chakra four, also called the heart, is located centrally along the spine at the height of the physical heart. It vibrates to green and pink. It energizes issues of the human emotions as well as those of Unconditional Love, and human level healing. Chakra five, also called the throat, is located at the throat level near the voice box. It vibrates to the color blue. It energizes issues of communication, spoken, written and nonverbal. Chakra six, also called the third eye, is located between and slightly above the eyebrows. It vibrates to the color indigo. It energizes issues of Higher Vision, sometimes called psychic vision. Chakra seven, also called the crown, is located at the top of the head. It vibrates to the color purple. It energizes issues of High Spirituality. Further understandings have opened awareness of additional major chakras extending from the feet and below, and above the crown. Minor chakras may appear smaller, but the system works together, making all equally valuable. As one ascends through dimensions, adding fourth, fifth, and further dimensional vibrations within their consciousness, chakra colors may change, as may presentation. There is much being shared and much more to learn. flash: In geologic terms, flash refers to a luminescence held by some stones which is released by certain introductions to a bright light source. The stone may show colors in the light that are not apparent without that light. intuitive: Intuitive knowing is internally evoked, where as “education” would be termed external gathering of knowledge. Wisdom combines both. manifest: To manifest is to bring to physical being that which was not in place before, whether the object or process has been achieved previously or not. metaphysical: Meta - greater/beyond, physical - having physically material properties. Metaphysical is the aspect of life that steps beyond the obvious, or physical manifestation of life. It can also be thought of as a bigger picture of what life is. neat: In aromatherapy usage, this term means that the essential oil is being used directly, without being diluted first. Caution must be taken, as many essential oils can be irritating to the skin if used in this way. new age: New Age is a modern term denoting a level of metaphysical and spiritual awareness that has evolved from a previous time. We are ever caterpillars emerging from our chrysalis of being into the butterfly form which will later become our new caterpillar being. We therefore are constantly creating a new age. Reiki: Reiki is a system of channeling healing energy flow through a practitioner to a recipient in a laying-on-of-hands method. Modern Reiki is attributed to Mikao Usui in the 1800’s who received the power of Reiki in a quest to learn the means by which Jesus and Buddha did their healing. The energy can be transferred directly and at a distance, as well as transferred into objects to be released upon use of that object. single note: In aromatherapy, single note refers to single essential oils which have not been blended with other essential oils. Tarot: Tarot is a system of divining intuitive information through the use of a specifically designed deck of cards, called tarot cards.
